LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, 30/05/2025.- Fotografía tomada el 15/04/2024, del momento en el que la Policía Federal de Brasil retira la embarcación encontrada en el estado de Pará, en la Amazonía brasileña. El 13 de abril se cumplió un año desde que unos pescadores de la bahía de Maiaú, en Pará (nordeste de Brasil), encontraron a la deriva una embarcación blanca y azul celeste de unos quince metros de eslora con nueve cadáveres muy deteriorados a bordo, 27 móviles y dos documentos de identidad: uno de Mauritania y otro de Mali. Los intentos de la Policía Federal de Brasil para cotejar sus huellas dactilares con los registros policiales de Mauritania y Mali han servido de poco, así que los nueve fueron enterrados sin nombre en un cementerio de Belém al cabo de doce días, aunque se conservan perfiles de ADN por si alguna familia demanda un análisis genético.
