- Legenda: KABUL (Afghanistan), 16/05/2025.- An Afghan girl learns Nuristani wood carving skill at a workshop in Kabul, Afghanistan, 07 May 2025 (issued 16 May 2025). Khatama Hosseini, a 25-year-old graduate from Kabul, has established the "Zarafat" carving workshop, empowering women through the art of Nuristani carving. After learning the craft six years ago, she opened her own workshop with a capital of 50,000 Afghanis (approximately $350 USD), which is now valued at 150,000 Afghanis (approximately $1,050 USD). Khatama teaches girls and women in six-month courses for a monthly fee of 400 Afghanis (approximately $2.80 USD). Despite facing challenges such as market sluggishness and societal perceptions of women's roles in carving, Khatama has provided job opportunities and training for at least 20 women, emphasizing the importance of art in preserving Afghan culture. She aims to expand her workshop, showcasing the contributions of women to society and culture. (Afganistán) EFE/EPA/SAMIULLAH POPAL ORG XMIT: EPA5766
